Face Lift Advice
Men and women are now living longer, and naturally want to look good for as long as they can. A face lift may make you look 10 years younger, but can cost as much as a new car, involves a stay in hospital and a subsequent recovery period.

Cosmetic surgery can have amazing results, as long as you have a reputable surgeon and research all the pros and cons and decide if face lift surgery is for you. Cosmetic face lift surgery generally lasts around 7 years. There is no way to stop the ageing process, but there is a lot we can do to get younger and firmer looking skin. Facelift surgery is an operation which tightens the skin of the lower half of the face and neck, resulting in tighter, firmer skin, a more defined jawline and subsequently younger looking face. A face lift can reverse the ageing process which causes sagging cheeks, neck and jowls.
Facelift surgery involves an incision under the chin and behind the hairline in front of the ear, and along the inside of the hairline towards the back of the head, so that the skin and muscles around the lower face are tightened. A face lift can be combined with an eyebrow lift and eyelid surgery to ensure that the whole face is rejuvenated in a balanced way. It can takes weeks for full recovery, as there will be some swelling and bruising. You should expect to take at least 1 week of work after the surgery. Mini facelifts are less invasive, with recovery over a weekend. Some mini face lifts only involve tightening of the skin, so although they provide quick results with little down time, they do not last as long as a face lift where the connective tissues and muscles underneath the skin are also tightened. There are many websites providing cosmetic surgery information, with before and after photos of patients who have undergone face lift surgery. If you are thinking of having a face lift, do your research and make sure you are aware of all that is involved. Also consider non surgical facelifts and alternative therapies which can help you look years younger and boost your self confidence.
If you are concerned about face lift cost, there are many alternatives to surgical facelifts for those not quite ready to go under the knife. Some of these can be applied at home, or in a beauty salon during your lunch hour, with no downtime to recover afterwards. The choice seems to be endless, anti ageing creams and lotions to reduce face and eye wrinkles, CACI for electronic stimulation of facial muscles, botox injections to remove lines caused by muscle contraction, dermal fillers to replace lost collagen in the lips and face. Vitamins, anti oxidants and nutritional supplements can also improve the skin and slow down the ageing process.
Massage therapy, chemical skin peels, laser treatments to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, Threadlift face lifts, Thermage facelifts, and even acupuncture can all give a face lift effect. Many people do not want invasive procedures with needles and surgery under a general anaesthetic, so non-surgical face lifts offer a viable and affordable alternative to cosmetic surgery.

Face Lift Cost
Accept it; aging is a natural part of life. Unfortunately, it’s so hard to look at yourself in the mirror every morning and see your face growing older. This desire to avoid aging is why the cosmetic surgery industry is one of the most lucrative in the US; the cosmetic surgery procedures market is expected to reach an estimated $15 billion by 2012. The most popular of these procedures is undoubtedly rhytidectomy, more popularly known as a face lift. A face lift is a medical procedure performed to lessen the visible signs of aging in the face and neck.

The problem with having a face lift is that it come with many drawbacks. One of the most serious of these is the expense of having the procedure. The average face lift cost is around $6,000 to $25,000 when all the costs, including surgeon’s and anesthesiologist’s fees, hospital fees and other costs are totaled; for this procedure, surgeons charge around $5,000 to $6,000. If a neck lift is included in the procedure, another $4,000 to $8,000 may be added.
The mean face lift cost may also vary depending on the type of technique used. The most expensive procedure is the standard face lift, which costs an average of $7,000 and is performed on the bottom half of the face to tighten the jaw, eliminate jowls and remove excess skin from the neck; a mid face lift which targets the areas in the middle of the face, particularly the eyes, nose and corners of the mouth, and costs an average of $7,000; the mini facelift which targets particular areas such as the neck and nose folds, and goes for an average of $5,000; and the thread face lift, which treats early signs of aging such as minor facial sagging, for $4,000. With these prices, coupled with the risk of complications, it is no wonder that many are unwilling to bear the cost of the procedure.
The risks associated with face lifts include nerve injury (which may be temporary); problems with healing (usually common among patients with smoking habits); scarring, which is inevitable but which usually fades after a few months; skin or hair loss or skin discoloration (which happen rarely) and numbness or tingling around the areas where incisions were made. Men may also find it necessary to shave in areas such as the back of the neck or ears where beard-growing skin may have been moved.
More general post-operative complications common to all cosmetic surgeries include nausea and general sickness as a reaction to the anesthesia and medications prescribed post-procedure; the risk of developing a hematoma, or localized swelling, if there is bleeding under the skin (another operation may be necessary); and infection, for which the patient may need to take antibiotics. Thus, the face lift cost goes beyond the financial to include side effects that range from the merely inconvenient to the life threatening. So the next time you look in the mirror and see your mother or father looking back at you, and you’re considering cosmetic surgery, you should ask yourself, Is it worth it?
